Course Description:
The WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines is intended for those who have little or no previous knowledge of the broad range of wines and spirits. It is suitable wherever a sound but simple level of product knowledge is required to underpin job skills and competencies for example, in the customer service and sales functions of the hospitality, retailing and wholesaling industries. It is also useful for those who have a general interest in the subject.

This online course is based around a 5-week structured online programme with a recommendation of 6 hours study per week to cover the online activities and read the relevant chapters in the textbook. Regular access and participation in the course online activities is essential for this mode of study.

Included in the course fee is the WSET Wine Level 2 Study Pack.  This pack includes the text 'Wines: Looking behind the label', the Workbook, and the S.A.T. card. 

You have chosen th Hard Copy format of the Study Pack. It will be sent out to you at Registration deadline date.

The course also includes two Zoom Sessions with Statera. These sessions will be to review, discuss, and taste along if you wish. They are optional and not recorded. Zoom session dates will be sent at course start date.

The course follows a weekly structure, but it allows the student to work ahead or catch up on the activities and forums. 

Once you have registered, you will be provided with the WSET study materials and have access to the online platform. Guidance from the WSET educator will begin at the course ‘start date’ and run thru the 5-week program.

The student can contact the educator any time for the duration of the scheduled course, should they have any questions. Each week includes a series of independent and/or group activities to help students understand wine label terminology and recognize the styles produced by the main grape varieties in key wine regions. Students are advised to taste a range of wines during their studies. A list of recommended tasting samples can be found in the specification. (Samples are not included in the course and supplying them is up to the discretion of the student.) Students can post their tasting notes in the Online Classroom for review by the educator.

Students will require access to a computer (recommended) and/or HTML5 compatible mobile or tablet with the following minimum requirements: Internet Explorer 10, Firefox 25.0, Safari 6, Chrome 30.0 or other HTML5 compatible; web browser with Javascript and cookies** enabled; Adobe Reader XI or equivalent; Internet access (broadband recommended)

Successful candidates will be able to interpret the labels of the major wines and spirits of the world and give basic guidance on appropriate selection and service, as well as understand the principles of wine tasting and evaluation.
