Van Doren Chan, Business Administration - Statera Academy

Van Doren is our Spirited Vinolist serving as Statera's administrator. A certified Sommelier dedicated to the artistry of Wine & Culinary. With a keen sense for both taste and tradition, she is committed to the advancement of the wine and hospitality industries. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers and Les Dames d’Escoffier BC Chapter.

Her career began as a Pastry Chef at the renowned Four Seasons Hotels and Sooke Harbour House on Vancouver Island, where she discovered her love for wine, transitioning to the front-of-house. She has since held esteemed roles, including Wine and Beverage Director at Opus Hotel, Restaurant Manager and Sommelier at Hawksworth Restaurant, and General Manager & Wine Director at Le Crocodile Restaurant.

Van Doren holds a certificate in Viticulture and Winemaking and a degree in Oenology from UC Davis. She’s gained invaluable experience working in organic and biodynamic vineyards across France, Germany, and Canada, advocating for sustainable practices and fostering meaningful relationships within the wine industry, one bottle at a time.
